The Bowls WA High Performance Committee has recently been reformed and part of their charter and goals is to find ways to increase the level of competition, whether it be interstate or internally.
As the first step, the High-Performance Committee will be conducting a tournament to be played over one Sunday per month starting in May for State Squad members plus other drafted players.
The tournament will showcase our elite players talents and give valuable practice and development opportunities for current and future State players.
It is expected there will be some prize money attached and it may lead to a club-based tournament along the same lines in the future.
The draft will be conducted over three evenings.
- First draft only 8 players will be drafted by the Franchise Managers and they will become the franchise captain
- Second Draft a couple of days later to allow for some advertising and the franchise manager and captain to discuss the makeup of the team. Only players in the Open State Squad will be selected in this draft
- The Draft a couple of weeks later. Bowls WA will ask for player nominations to go into the draft. It will include Over 60’s, Under 18’s and Academy members, but will also be open to the general bowler
